What I didn't realize yesterday was that the reason gas prices are getting so high in GA is primarily that the main gasoline pipelines that feed Atlanta come up through the area affected by Hurricane Katrina.
"Affected" - sounds pretty lame compared to what's actually going on down in New Orleans. I've been through a severe hurricane, but nothing like this. The thing that gets me is the senseless violence. Not only are people foodless, waterless, and can't bury the people that are lying dead next to them, but relief workers and hospitalized people are being shot at as they try to evacuate. What on earth????
Seriously, if you've had your head as much in the sand as I have, go check out CNN or something. But nevermind laments for not paying attention sooner - here's the site where you can give money online to MTW to go directly to aid in the worst-hit areas.
Go to www.mtw.org where you will see an article entitled, "Minuteman Appeal." At the conclusion of the article, "click here to give" will link you to the area where you may enter your credit card information. You may also call MTW at (678) 823 0004 ext. 451 for additional information.
